Easy to follow instructions with an accurate reading .....do your own eye exam in the comfort of where ever you and your phone are..
As accurate as you make it
Having had refractive surgery many years ago, my refractive error fluctuates through the day. Having refraction done by a professional is only accurate for the particular time of day it is done. With EyeQue I can do the test several times during the day and choose the one most useful to me. Although it hasn't been necessary, I could have different glasses for a particular time or activity.
The process is a little tedious, and requires attention to detail and some practice, which is difficult for some people. If one is willing to try, this ingenious little gadget can be highly useful. My results have been very consistent.
Gave Indication of my Prescription
Could not discriminate all required figuresm but gave me enough info to change Zenni data.
I'm a high myope, with a very strong prescription. I used the EyeQue personal vision checker until I got comfortable with performing the test, and was able to get reproducible results. I ordered glasses via Zenni, and the prescription is spot-on.
East to use, but precise in its measurement
Well made. Easy to use. Seems very precise. Accurate.
Very close to prescription
I just ordered glasses with the prescription I got from miniscope. After numerous tests it came out the same. I will see if it’s better than the ones I got from the dr.
This piece of technology just saved me a bundle of cash. Now, I keep my fingers crossed that the script is accurate! I work as a surgeon and my vision is of the utmost importance! Unlike most of the people buying this- my IQ actually IS impressive.
I was skeptical at how an inexpensive device would give such a highly detailed reading. I wanted to order glasses online, and wanted to be certain my Rx hadn't changed since my last visit to the doctor. This device was absolutely accurate with all values of spherical, cylinder and axis. I got exact values with only one spherical reading 0.25 different (1/4 diopter), which can be accounted for in day to day variance. Impressive and helpful device! I now have a VERY cute set of new glasses!
Taken Numerous Readings with Miniscope
Got mine yesterday. Taken numerous readings over the past 24 hours (iPhone 6S) and they all come out *very* close to my own prescription, which is about a year old. Very impressed! Will order some glasses with the EyeQue prescription and see how they work out.
The only issue for me really is the choice of red/green lines. Like many others, I have some color blind issues, and wonder whether there might be other options available. If the goal is to overlay lines, then is it not possible to use something like a white ON/OFF line pattern, eg ||| in both eyes and then just overlay those - this could potentially be even more accurate. Or is there something special about RED/GREEN?
I received my miniscope and had no trouble connecting it to my Galaxy Phone. It took a few minutes to get used to viewing the red and green lines, but after that I was getting accurate readings, comparable to a recent prescription I had.
Way to Go EyeQue!
I purchased mine through Kickstarter. The software is not perfect but this scope actually works... my test results are pretty close to my prescription. The graph on my app is a cool feature.
Easy to use
Just got this and did the test three times to generate numbers. Not sure what should be done with the numbers, but the set up and use is unbelievably easy. They tossed in a special ruler for measuring the distance between pupils, but the included paper directions for the entire package are sparse. You'll be directed to a very thorough tutorial video on how to set up and test. I just need a second video on what the generated information means, but then again ... I'm not an eye doctor and don't want to be one.
Used this to get good results, even bought glasses with the refraction numbers.
Impressive for what it is
I was a little sceptical after reading reviews of this product at other places, but I must say that I'm impressed. It's a really small and simple-looking device but it gave surprisingly accurate results, even though it took a little while to get used to. I'm looking forwards to trying future products from EyeQue!
Worth the Time Investment
I was excited to try something that could affirm my prescription was accurate. This test does take SOME TIME to learn and do. So make sure to set aside some time. You also need multiple results in order to generate what they call Eyeglass Numbers that you can use to order eyeglasses online. So that was a little annoying. However, once I got the numbers, I realized that my script was off and decided to order glasses with the new numbers. WHOA. I see so clearly now! I highly recommend it.
The PVT gadget has been lying in my drawer for months.
Eventually, took it out and performed the testing.
It took me a couple of hours to get used to it.
The refraction numbers it produced were amazingly accurate for my vision.
Convenient and Accurate
This product really does work and is very convenient to have. I love how I can test my vision anytime in my own home.
You start off by watching a tutorial which is helpful if you pay attention. Next, you are required to take 3 tests in order to generate your EyeGlass Numbers. Each test consist of 9 different stages per eye. Once you are done with one stage, you manually turn the to the next stage. The scope itself has 1-9 listed and a white circle to make sure your aligned. This is the only reason I deducted a star as this manual process can affect how you test if you do not align the number properly. For example, if the white circle is slightly off from the displayed number it can affect what you see through the device. Other than this, I would recommend the Personal Vision Tracker to my friends and family.
Great product, I'm very satisfied!
I backed the EyeQue Personal Vision Tracker on Kickstarter. I was somewhat skeptical at first but I like to back cool and innovative products and I thought what do I have to lose? It'd be cheaper than getting a second opinion on my recent eye exam which basically said I needed prescription glasses. After receiving my Kickstarter backed EyeQue PVT, I immediately installed the app on my iPhone and started the testing process. It took me a few minutes to go through the steps to figure out the band, get used to the scope, and work the app but I got it done and the result/recommendation was same as what I got a few weeks prior at Costco optometry. I have since created an account for my wife and examined her eyes as well. It's convenient, easy to use, and worth the investment but not as a replacement to an optometrist who also checks for overall eye health.
Overall, very satisfied
The results are SO accurate, after doing the test for about 6 times. It was easy to use, simple to set up, the video was a great help, but I'm more of a reader, so it would have been nice to have an instruction manual. The downsides were the product only worked for certain phones (mostly well-known ones), so I had to lend my phone to my family members in order for them to take the test, which could take hours (not that this was a huge deal breaker for me). Additionally, for one test, you go through nine match tests from all different angles, because your eyes are round. But NINE shots. If we're talking about 6 tests, that's 30 times I'm twisting the lens over and over again until I'm done. This can be very tedious, but I guess there's nothing I can do about it, because it's not like our eyes are made flat, and it's not like this product is a gigantic eye exam machine at a clinic either. I'm still very satisfied with the product, overall. The results were very true for my family members and I, and because of this, I'm definitely looking to buy the newer, much easier VisionCheck product.
Fighty weird band
The weird band is too easy to lose. The figity nature is the reason this hasn't worked well for me. Surely there's a way to integrate the components into the design.
I've first version of EyeQue. Instructions are good once you tried at least once. It works on one eye at a time. Matching colors is bit tricky by keeping other eye open. I felt that too many steps for one eye and takes lots of time. This should be automatic process. Frankly I hated it
Great Little Gadget
Used the tracker and it was very close to my prescription. However, the Axis for my Astigmatism was off but most of the rest of the numbers were correct.
Easy to use, low price, convenient and works.
A bit hard to use
I found I had to very carefully align my eye for this instrument to work. It was more tedious than I thought it should be. The results closely matched my doctor's prescription so I think the end result was quite good. I'm looking forward to the VisionCheck, hoping that it is easier to use.
Great results, once you get it!
There is definitely a learning curve. I wouldn't recommend having the expectation of getting your initial results without any effort. Especially since you have to first set a baseline for your results which requires you to take 3 full tests before seeing any Eyeglass Numbers. So I think there can be some improvements made to better facilitate the user in the beginning. BUT, once you understand how to take the test, it's a BREEZE and super useful. I can literally order super affordable and stylish frames from zenni ANY TIME. Which I've NEVER been able to do before without it being such a hassle. Now I have a pair for every mood!
Wonderful product !!!
Optometrist retired and the new one didn't give very good numbers. Tried the vision-tracker not knowing what to expect. After ten tests I received an e-mail saying I was on the A-Team because of consistent test results. Sent the new numbers into Zenni and OH MY GOD. I believe that I can see better now than when I had 20-20 vision. Thank You EyeQue
Accurate way to check prescription
I have have an opportunity to have an optometrist verify the prescription I gained with EyeQue and both times it was exactly the right prescription. Just a note though, every so often you should have an optometrist examine the inside of your eye.
Ordering glasses online has never been easier. As a small business owner who does not have eye health insurance EyeQue has been a lifesaver!
Matched my prescription!
Once I got the hang of it, I was surprised to see that it matched the prescription of my Doctor. I found it very convenient and accurate.
Successful determination of my prescription. I sent it to a mail order sports glasses firm and received a perfect set of glasses. Thanks!
It gave me an accurate refraction
Have pretty strong myopia and cylinder. Followed the instructions and got the eyeglasses numbers... very close to my last eye test I had a few years ago.
It is pretty easy to use, but follow the instructions.... and it takes a bit of time
Works well for most vision correction. Decent product quality and reasonable pricing.
Really Close, waiting for upgraded unit
I have taken numerous test on my unit and the results have been fairly close to my 1 year old prescription. The issue is that I don't get repeatable results that I feel comfortable with. I have used the numbers to purchase online glasses and while they are close to being good, it still seems to be a little bit off. I have bi-focal lenses and it seems to be harder to get both numbers right including the sphere rotation. It's good, but I would like it to be better. Hoping the new model will be tighter and more repeatable accuracy including the PD measurement.
My EyeQue eyeglasses are better than my optometrist's prescription
My optometrist is very good. She starts with an autorefractor, and then refines its measurement with "1-2, 1-2, 1-2 ...". I've been very happy with her prescriptions ... until now! I ordered a pair of eyeglasses from Eyebuydirect using a prescription that was generated by my EyeQue device, and my EyeQue eyeglasses are better than the ones that were prescribed by my optometrist. I am now using my EyeQue eyeglasses as my regular eyeglasses.
BUT -- USING THE EYEQUE CORRECTLY DOES REQUIRE A LOT OF PRACTICE, and I would recommend that you keep at it until you develop enough skill to generate at least four successive matching EyeQue prescriptions.
I have to admit, I left this thing in the box for a while thinking I didn't have time to learn how to use it. I was wrong - super easy. I took several tests in a row and each time I got faster. Will have my husband sign up and test his eyes tonight!
