EYE

OD and OS are abbreviations for 'oculus dexter' and 'oculus sinister'. They're Latin terms for 'right eye' and 'left eye' respectively.

SPHERE (SPH)

Indicates the lens power needed to correct for myopia or hyperopia, measured in Diopters (D).

Negative (-) numbers indicate myopia or nearsightedness, and positive (+) numbers indicate hyperopia, or farsightedness.

Nearsighted means you see better up close than far away. Farsighted means you see better far away than up close.

CYLINDER (CYL)

The lens power needed to correct the amount of astigmatism you have, which is measured in Diopters (D).

Astigmatism is a common condition in which your eye is curved more steeply in one way instead of being completely round. It can cause your vision to be distorted or blurry at any distance.

CYL can have either a plus sign or minus sign in front of the number, depending on the doctor writing it. They don't indicate nearsightedness or farsightedness.

AXIS

Orientation (in degrees) in which the cylinder correction needs to be applied to correct for astigmatism.

ADD

The additional lens power needed for reading. We calculate this by age and it's always a plus number. +0.00 means you don't need an add correction.

This value is used by eyeglass manufacturers when you order reading glasses, bifocals, or progressives.

PUPILLARY DISTANCE (PD)

The distance between the black center of your left and right pupils (measured in millimeters).

WHAT’S INCLUDED

One pair of EyeQue Try-On Glasses made using standard round metal frames and shatter resistant CR-39 plastic lenses.

REQUIREMENTS

Try-On Glasses are currently only available to US-based EyeQue users who meet the following criteria:

  • You have successfully generated EyeGlass Numbers by completing a series of refraction tests using the EyeQue VisionCheck or EyeQue Personal Vision Tracker.
  • Your EyeGlass Numbers are valid (generated within the past 6 months) and not expired.
  • You have a valid PD (pupillary distance) measurement.
  • Your EyeGlass Numbers have achieved Medium or High Confidence. To find your Confidence status, log into your account at eyeque.com and click on Usage Report.

NOTE: EyeGlass Numbers are the sphere, cylinder and axis numbers representing lens power needed to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, and pupillary distance. We currently do not ship Try-On Glasses outside of the US as each country has different regulations pertaining to vision care products. We apologize for any inconvenience.

EyeGlass Numbers are not a prescription. EyeQue does not perform and provide optometry services, nor does it represent itself as a licensed optometrist. The EyeQue VisionCheck and EyeQue Personal Vision Tracker accurately measure for refractive error and detect changes between regular eye exams when properly used. These tests do not replace a comprehensive eye exam that evaluates ocular health and binocularity. EyeQue strongly recommends people visit an eye care professional annually to receive a complete eye health exam.
